In these Terms and Conditions and the Rental Agreement, The “Hirer” refers to the individual(s) leasing the vehicle under these terms. Placing a booking constitutes your agreement—even without a handwritten signature—that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms.

We monitor inquiries continuously and aim to respond quickly, outside of set business hours. Rest assured, assistance will arrive promptly.

Driver Requirements

Only drivers aged 25–75, holding a valid licence from the UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand for at least two years may rent or drive our vehicles.

  • Any endorsements, current or pending, must be disclosed.

  • Travel within the UK is permitted. EU travel may be allowed only with prior approval—failure to notify us can void insurance.

  • Any motoring offence incurred during the hire must be disclosed. If authorities notify us, we will report you to the DVLA.

  • Only named, approved drivers may operate the campervan.

Restricted Drivers & Penalty Fees

Rental may be refused or terminated if illegal use is suspected. A £500 fee may be deducted from the deposit if unauthorized or disqualified drivers operate the vehicle.

Prohibited individuals include:

  • Full-time professional entertainers or sportspeople

  • Jockeys or those connected to racing/gaming

  • Foreign service personnel

  • Intoxicated individuals

  • Drivers with multiple recent motoring accidents or convictions beyond minor infringements

  • Those refused motor insurance or with policies cancelled

Collection & Return

  • Pick-up: After 3 pm on the start date—unless arranged otherwise.

  • Return: By 11 am on the agreed return date.

  • Failure to present required documents at check-in may delay release of the vehicle.

  • Required documents:

    • Valid photographic driving licence

    • Two proof-of-residence documents (e.g. utility bill, council tax) dated within 90 days

    • For UK residents: DVLA check code or endorsement record obtained within 7 days

    • A card pre-authorisation deposit will be held until the vehicle is returned undamaged

Additional Charges

  • Late return: £20 per 30 minutes, or a full extra night if return exceeds 2 hours late.

  • Toilet cleaning: If not emptied/cleaned (green indicator) upon return — £200 surcharge.

  • Fuel: Full-to-full policy; missing fuel is charged at pump price plus £50 refill fee.

Damage & Insurance

  • The vehicle is insured through Alan Boswell Ltd; excess typically £1,500 per incident (adjusts if breach of policy applies) YorkshireVehicleHire.

  • You’re liable for unspecified damages, overhead or gross negligence issues, and items not covered by standard hire insurance.

  • Claims involving tyre damage, windscreen damage, misuse, or abandonment may fall outside insurance cover.

  • Damage costs, missing equipment, or additional cleaning fees will be deducted from your deposit; balance refunded once resolved.

Reservation & Cancellation

  • Booking confirmation includes automated details, Terms & Conditions, and user guides.

  • Cancellations:

    • Full refund if cancelled within 24 hours of booking.

    • Outside 24 hours (but more than 30 days before hire): refund minus non-refundable deposit.

    • Within 30 days of hire: no refund of balance.

  • We reserve the right to cancel bookings if information is found to be incorrect or if documentation doesn’t match booking records.

Travel Insurance & Liability

  • We advise you to arrange independent travel insurance. We don’t cover personal belongings or personal injury.

  • We're not liable for costs linked to breakdowns, replacement transport, or traffic fines.

Passengers, Pets & Smoking

  • Passengers under 18 must prove relationship with the Hirer.

  • UK law mandates appropriate child seats for children under 135 cm or 12 years—your responsibility to supply.

  • Only specified passengers may stay overnight; additional occupants require prior approval.

  • No smoking in the vehicle.

  • Pets allowed with prior consent, subject to a £30 cleaning fee; breaches incur a £150 charge. Ensure your dog is safely restrained while travelling (via a harness, crate, or dog guard) in accordance with the UK Highway Code (Rule 57). Unrestrained pets that contribute to distraction or injury could affect insurance validity and driver liability

Data Protection & Privacy

  • Personal data we collect (e.g. name, contact, licence info, photos, CCTV/audio during rental) is processed in accordance with data protection laws.

  • We retain this data for one year and only share it when necessary (insurance claims, legal, police).

  • You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data—contact us to exercise your rights.

Liability Disclaimer

We provide campervans believed to be roadworthy and clean. If your vehicle is unavailable, we may offer a refund or replacement. Our liability is strictly limited to refunding monies paid. We disclaim costs for travel, accommodation, or alternative arrangements.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by England & Wales law.
